Anne Hytta is among the
foremost performers of the Hardanger violin in Norway. In
2006 she was awarded the Norwegian Folk Music Award for
Best Solo Album for her CD “dag, kveld, natt” / “day,
evening, night”, a collection of tunes from Telemark. As
well as performing traditional repertoire in solo and
group performances she writes and performs new music with
her trio Slagr. They have just released their new CD
“straum, stille” to great acclaim. She has collaborated
with musicians from all over the world in international
traditional music projects and this year alone she will
be working with musicians from Zanzibar, Tadjikistan,
Crete, France and Israel. In May this year she will
premiere her new solo concert "Draumsyn" (Dream Vision)
with light design and scenography in the newly built
Norwegian Opera House. She regularly visits the UK and
the US to teach hardanger violin. Anne received the
Norwegian Government Grants for Young Artists in 2006,
2007 and 2009.
